We’re 89 days away from Penn State squaring off against Marshall to open up the Matt Campbell era, and today we’re switching over to the tight ends room. Finn Furmanek may not be the first name that comes to mind when you talk about Penn State tight ends, but he has been a special teams stalwart, appearing in all 13 of PSU’s games last season. Look for the redshirt junior to continue being a key part of the coverage teams while spending every day of practice working with and making fellow tight end teammates Andrew Rappleyea and Ben Brahmer better players.

Also wearing the No. 89 jersey is true freshman defensive end Jackson Ford. The former four-star recruit out of PA’s Malvern Prep was one of only two recruits to sign with the Nittany Lions last December during the early signing period. It was a massive leap of faith on Ford’s part, considering PSU did not even have a head coach in place at the time, and one that the fan base will forever respect him for. Look for him to redshirt this year as he plays a vital role as part of the practice squad.
