LSU football QB Sam Leavitt wins major SEC award

Following his first contest leading the offense for LSU football, Sam Leavitt won SEC Offensive Player of the Week. The quarterback put on an all-around clinic in a decisive 51-10 win over Clemson on Saturday. From passing to rushing, Leavitt did it all.

Leavitt completed 16 of his 28 pass attempts for 230 yards and two touchdowns while tying for the team lead with 113 rushing yards. He also ran for a score. The Tigers picked up a program-record 38 first downs, thanks largely in part to Leavitt's leadership under center.

An experienced passer, Leavitt shouldered a heavy load of pressure to ensure the success of LSU's offense against head coach Dabo Swinney's team. His prowess moved the offense with ease as the Tigers ran 94 plays and only punted twice throughout the entire game.

Leavitt came to LSU as the top ranked player in the transfer portal. Any questions about his health following a lengthy offseason rehabbing a foot injury were put to rest as his mobility was on full display on Saturday.
