2027 NJ Wide Receiver Isaiah Alvarez Commits to Rutgers Football

Rutgers football has landed three-star Don Bosco Prep wide receiver Isaiah Alvarez, adding another commit from the June 5 official visit weekend to its 2027 class. Alvarez, who was rated a three-star by all three ranking services, is listed as the No.112 WR and the No.24 New Jersey prospect by Rivals and the No.82 WR, No.15 New Jersey prospect by 247Sports.

During his junior season at Don Bosco, Alvarez totalled 702 receiving yards and six touchdowns, averaging around 18 yards per catch. He also showed off his talents in the return game, totalling over 300 yards as a returner with three additional touchdowns on special teams. That production is a major jump from his sophomore year, when he caught 38 passes for 421 and three touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect has received a lot of power four interest, and chose Rutgers despite holding offers from. Colorado, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Penn State. He was scheduled to take a visit to both Nebraska and Penn State, but ultimately decided to cancel those before committing to Rutgers. According to both Rivals and 247Sports, Alvarez was one of the top receivers on Rutgers recruiting board.

Rutgers wide receivers coach gets a lot of the credit for locking down Alvarez’s commitment.

“It’s the development. Coach Brock has developed a lot of receivers; Julio Jones, KJ Duff, guys like that.  Looking at the stats, they had three receivers in the top 20 in receiving yards last year,” said Alvarez in a statement to 247Sports.

Alvarez’s most recent visit to campus wasn’t the only one he took this year. Alvarez visited the campus this past April and had a really good time. Following the visit, he told The Knight Report that Rutgers was one of his top schools.

Alvarez now joins a three-man wide receiver class that has three-star wide receivers Jamar Taylor and Arnold Mugerwa in it.
