Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said he will try to keep one of his current players in the program after graduation. The coach indicated that he will try to hire quarterback Jayln Gramstad for a staff position.
Gramstad came to the program last June and has played the role of veteran quarterback in a young room. He has six completions on eight attempts for 27 yards and a 75% completion percentage over the span of two seasons.
Having him on staff would be valuable, as the quarterback room itself continues to develop. It would be a valuable set of eyes and ears for a young quarterback group looking to blossom.
Before his time at Nebraska, he was a star at Northwestern College in Iowa. He threw for 3,681 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2023, as well as ran for 772 yards and eight touchdowns. Now, he may be able to continue his career with the Huskers, just in a different capacity.
"I’m going to try to hire him. I’m not going to pay him a lot. But I’m going to try to hire him."
The Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-3, 4-3) retake the field on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they face the Penn State Nittany Lions (4-6, 1-6) at Beaver Stadium. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. CT and can be seen on NBC.
