The rivalry between Auburn and Alabama extends off the field, but also to the College Football Recruiting trail. Less than a month ago, it looked like Auburn scored a major victory over Alabama, securing the commitment of wide receiver Cedrick Simmons.
Now, Alabama has taken the victory over Auburn, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
“Class of 2027 WR Cedrick Simmons has Flipped his Commitment from Auburn to Alabama,” Fawcett posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The wide receiver originally committed to Auburn on June 23rd. Simmons grew up an Alabama fan, according to Steve Wiltfong of Yahoo Sports.
“Being able to play and show out on the same team I rooted for all my life,” Simmons said.
He also noted that coaching and the environment at Alabama played a major role.
“Coach Deboer played wide receiver so he definitely loves his wide receivers and knows how to use them,” Simmons said. “[Wide receivers] Coach [Derrick] Nix is a great teacher of the game, he’s very intense about it.”
Alabama also kept pursuing Simmons, even after he decided on Auburn.
“They continued to recruit me, things really didn’t change with us after I committed,” he said. “Playing opportunity, Being developed by the best, and me fitting the culture. The expectations, standards they’re held there….It’s a blessing and a dream come true. Great, It feel like its meant to be that way.”
