Georgia director of recruiting relations leaves football program

A major player in the Georgia Bulldogs' recruiting game has moved toward the agent side. Former UGA recruiting coordinator David Cooper is joining CAA Sports to become an agent, he announced on his social media account.
His announcement read: "Elite still wanna be with elite! CAA official now! Always will have love for my UGA family and Dawg Nation! It’s Up!"
Creative Artists Agency is an organization that represents actors, musicians, athletes, and writers, with the sports sector representing athletes. They represent players such as Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, CeeDee Lamb, and Patrick Surtain II.
David Cooper was the director of recruiting relations at Georgia from 2021-26. During his tenure, he helped the Georgia Bulldogs recruit top-five classes every single season, including the No. 1 recruiting class in 2024. Recruits like Brock Bowers, Mykel Williams, Malachi Starks, Amarius Mims, and Jalon Walker have turned into first-round picks.
Before his time in Athens, he served as the director of recruiting for a season at Louisville, following a stint at Florida as the assistant recruiting director, and at Texas A&M as a graduate assistant. He departure is a significant loss for the Bulldogs.
Georgia currently has the No. 9 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle. The Bulldogs have 20 commitments in the class of 2027.
