Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has earned the top quarterback position on ESPN’s 2026 Preseason All-America team, with Notre Dame’s CJ Carr selected for the second team.
Sayin enters his second season as the Buckeyes starter after a highly productive 2025 campaign. He completed 77.0% of his passes, the best single-season completion rate in Ohio State history, a Big Ten record and the third-highest in FBS history. He also finished with 3,610 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions while ranking second nationally in passing efficiency at 177.5.
The Buckeyes quarterback won his first 12 starts and became the third quarterback during Ryan Day’s tenure to accomplish that feat. His 3,610 passing yards ranked fifth in program history, while his 301 completions were fourth. Sayin also became an Ohio State quarterback to record games with more than 85% completion, at least 300 passing yards, three or more touchdowns and no interceptions, accomplishing the feat against Minnesota and Wisconsin in 2025.

Sayin recorded six career games with at least 300 passing yards, which ranks sixth in the Buckeyes history. His 47.8% third-down passing conversion rate ranked third among FBS quarterbacks with at least 250 attempts last season, according to ESPN Research.
Carr, meanwhile, received ESPN’s second-team quarterback selection after throwing for 2,741 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions during his first season as the Fighting Irish’s starting quarterback. He completed 66.6% of his attempts.
