Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby left practice on Monday, Aug. 17, with an injury to his left knee at practice, according to multiple reports.
ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Aug. 18 that Goosby underwent an MRI and seems to have avoided significant injury, with a timetable for his return to the field to "come together in the near future."
If Goosby were to miss a significant amount of time in 2026, it would be a notable loss for the Longhorns' offensive front. One of the best returning offensive linemen in college football, Goosby is projected as the No. 6 overall pick in USA TODAY's most recent 2027 NFL Draft projections.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound tackle emerged as a full-time starter last season and earned first-team All-SEC honors, opting to return for his fourth season in 2026. Goosby started two games as a redshirt freshman in 2024 before breaking out in 2025.
The Melissa, Texas, native was a four-star recruit out of high school, tabbed as the No. 412 player nationally and No. 26 offensive tackle, per 247Sports' Composite rankings. He chose the Longhorns over TCU and Texas A&M, among others.
Losing Goosby could force Texas coach Steve Sarkisian to move around some pieces on the offensive line. Brandon Baker could move from offensive guard to tackle, where he made 13 starts last season before being expected to move inside for the 2026 season.

Goosby was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, Aug. 18, per ESPN. The injury was first reported by Orangebloods.com, Texas' Rivals site.
