Auburn football: What to know

  • The Tigers will go as far senior quarterback Cason Myers takes them. Last season they finished 10-3 with Myers throwing for 2,490 yards and 19 touchdowns to go with seven rushing touchdowns and nearly 600 yards on the ground.
  • Myers will be throwing to several new faces this year. Auburn graduated its three leading receivers last season in Antonio Welch (848 yards, 10 touchdowns), Joshua Askew (821 yards, eight touchdowns) and Cash Reif (407 yards).
  • Several of the Tigers' top defensive players also graduated but they did return a massive piece with senior defensive end Elijah Scott. Last season Scott totaled 57 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and a team high 14 sacks.

Hewitt-Trussville football: What to know

  • Filling the hole left behind by leading receiver Dylan Cope will be hard. Cope led the team with 905 yards and nine touchdowns while no other receiver finished the 2025 season with more than 270 receiving yards.
  • Senior linebacker Harrison Malone will be looked upon to lead the defense following the graduation of last year's standouts and a few transfers. Malone was fourth on the team in tackles with 79 to go along with eight tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.
