Broncos Scrimmage Takeaways

Boise State wrapped up a scrimmage this weekend. It sounds like some positions have been solidified while others are still ongoing. QB2, kick returner, and both defensive tackles are now set. Meanwhile, the positions battles for center, right tackle, kicker, linebacker, and others will continue to play themselves out. Expect those battles to reach a conclusion sometime over the next two weeks.

Texas State Preview

College Football News has helped the summer go by quicker with its preseason previews, and this one is for Texas State. The offense returns all of its stars and excels at putting up a ton of yards, especially through the air. But they will need to establish a running game, and the pass protection has to be better. Over on defense, the pass rush is definitely a strength and the secondary will be good if they can meet their potential. However, the interior DL has a lot to prove and they were rough at forcing third-down stops last season. The Bobcats are predicted to go 5-7 in their first season in the Pac-12, which would be disappointing.

Athletic Group of 6 Predictions

Chris Vannini makes his annual predictions for Group of 6 conferences. For the Mountain West, he picks New Mexico over UNLV and has Jai’Den Thomas and Jaxton Eck as the OPOY and DPOY in the conference. Over at the Pac-12, the picks are Boise State over San Diego State, with Brad Jackson and Jayden Virgin-Morgan as the players of the year on each side of the ball. For what it’s worth, he thinks the Broncos will take the CFP spot this year.
