#12 Serious Stinyard

Serious Stinyard (b. Dec. 6, 2006) is a talented young cornerback from Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida, who redshirted* but did not see any game action in 2025. I’m projecting him as a key reserve this season.

Stinyard, who is majoring in biology, prepped under head coach Kirk Karsen at Gaither, where he was regarded as the 79th-best cornerback in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports and No. 87 by On3.

He recorded 19 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups as a junior, leading the Cowboys to an appearance in the state championship game.

Stinyard, an “all-name team” candidate, carded 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, three interceptions and four pass breakups during his final season. He also competed in track and field, in which he was a regional finalist.

Stinyard committed to K-State over Bowling Green, Delaware, East Carolina, Howard, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, NC State, Temple, Toledo, Tulane, South Florida, UT Martin, Western Michigan and West Virginia, from which he decommitted after the firing of Neal Brown. He was a late Signing Day surprise addition.

You might be familiar with some of Stinyard’s family members: His cousin, Michael Penix Jr., is a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons after starring for Indiana and Washington in college, while another cousin, Mekhi Penix, played wide receiver at Tennessee Tech.

*K-State has recently announced a new classification scheme that designates players by their year of eligibility regardless of whether they have “redshirted,” a term that will go out of use with the new “5-for-5” rule. Thus, the KSU SID lists Stinyard as a true sophomore even though he did not play last season. For the sake of consistency with past posts, I will continue to designate redshirts based on their playing history, but also note their remaining eligibility to stay consistent with the new designations as well.
