The SEC football realm is renown for producing NFL Draft talent annually. But now the conference faces rookie rejects coming back to college. Already conference representative LSU has Dae’Quan Wright going from the Cleveland Browns to the Tigers.

But many across the football landscape wonder, how does the SEC really feel about NFL dropouts re-pursuing their college careers?

So now the league of presidents involving the SEC issues a statement Monday. Each president and chancellor blasted pro football athletes pivoting back to college.

“Individuals who choose to leave college athletics, sign professional playing contracts, and compete professionally should not then be permitted to return to college competition,” the statement reads online.

That same statement fired off one more warning to pro athletes aiming to regain another eligibility year.

“Allowing that (pro athletes competing in college) to occur will blur the line between college and professional sports,” the statement continued. “[Plus] create significant competitive equity concerns. And reduce opportunities for high school and current college athletes.”

These headline grabbing moves stems from a landmark decision. A Louisiana judge approved of undrafted rookies taking advantage of the new fifth-year eligibility ruling. Talent who graduated in high school back in 2022 can return to college, but all needed to file a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) against the NCAA to enter into the College Football Transfer Portal.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge rusher Jack Pyburn rose as one aiming to return to the SEC too. Although he filed his TRO before the Bucs attempt to waive him or keep him and is eyeing an LSU return. Ex-Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris rose as another aiming to join LSU.

Meanwhile, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian surfaced as one trying to make sense of everything.
