El Paso's El Dorado HS football team sees its season end in playoffs

LUBBOCK, Texas – El Dorado's highly successful season came to an end Friday night at Jones' AT&T Stadium on the campus of Texas Tech in the Class 5A, Division 1 Texas UIL football playoffs.
Richland (9-3) never trailed and defeated the Aztecs, 70-37 to advance to next week's regional quarterfinals. El Dorado's season ends with a 10-2 record, a bidistrict playoff win and a District 1-5A, Division I title.
It was the first meeting between the two teams.
El Dorado cut the Royals lead to 42-24 early in the third quarter but Richland retook the momentum of the game.
Richland took a 42-18 lead at the half on six rushing touchdowns by Jayshon Gibson, including an 83-yarder.
The Aztecs countered with a field goal by Oscar Salazar, a touchdown run by Ryan Estrada and a short touchdown pass from Brycen Booth to Adrian Olivas. Estrada also caught a two-point conversion pass.
The Aztecs had one drive end on downs inside the Richland 10-yard line and had to punt inside the Richland 40 in the first half.
