‘Don’t Let (Lane) Kiffin See This’ — CFB Fans Roast Shedeur Sanders With Browns QB on the Sideline for Colorado-Georgia Tech

Shedeur Sanders returned to familiar territory Thursday night, but his presence at Colorado’s opener became a talking point.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback watched from the sideline as his former team faced Georgia Tech in Atlanta, creating an unusual scene for a player who has already moved on to the NFL.
With his father still coaching the Buffaloes, Sanders had a clear reason to be there, even if fans had plenty to say about it.

Barstool Sports shared a video of Sanders on the sideline interacting and joked about the scene, writing, “That one dude in high school who was on the sidelines of the game after graduating.”
The post soon turned Sanders’ return into a meme, with fans comparing his appearance to a former student who refuses to leave his old team behind.
One fan kept the joke simple, calling Sanders a “super senior.” Another took the eligibility joke further, writing, “Standing where he belongs, obviously he is just practicing his permanent role.”
The timing made the situation more amusing for fans because Sanders is now part of the Browns’ quarterback room. Cleveland recently announced that he would enter the season as the primary backup to Deshaun Watson, giving him a reason to enjoy a night away from his new NFL surroundings.

There was also a reference to LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, with one person posting, “Don’t let Kiffin see this, he may get some ideas.”
Others were less amused by the scene.
One fan questioned Sanders’ decision directly, writing, “He doesn’t think this is embarrassing? Interesting.” Another focused on the unusual sight of a former college quarterback standing alongside the program after moving to the NFL: “Bro graduated but somehow never left the sidelines. 😭🏈 Still supporting the squad like he’s got eligibility left.”
Still, Sanders had a legitimate connection to the night. His father, Deion Sanders, remains Colorado’s head coach, and Shedeur returned to support both his former teammates and his father. He also watched the Buffaloes produce a finish that gave the trip an even better ending.
Colorado rallied for a 14-13 victory after Georgia Tech controlled much of the game. Redshirt freshman Julian Lewis led a 75-yard, eight-play drive before throwing a 20-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Williams with well under a minute left.
Georgia Tech then reached field-goal range, but Colorado defensive back Boo Carter blocked the potential game-winning kick as time expired. The victory also gave Colorado payback after Georgia Tech won the teams’ 2025 season opener.
