Georgia football piles on points in 63-3 win over Tennessee State

The Georgia Bulldogs opened their 2026 college football season with a 63-3 win over the Tennessee State Tigers. Georgia jumped all over Tennessee State and scored on five straight offensive possessions to build a 35-0 lead. The hot sun and noncompetitive contest led to many Georgia fans leaving the game early.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton delivered a near-perfect performance. The senior completed 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and threw three touchdown passes. Running back Nate Frazier shredded the Tigers' defense and scored touchdowns on three of his four carries. Freshman running back Jae Lamar also had a late touchdown.

Georgia's tight ends looked like a force to be reckoned with. Tight ends Jaden Reddell and Elyiss Williams both scored touchdowns and looked like an excellent compliment to All-SEC tight end Lawson Luckie. The Bulldogs spread the wealth out on offense with more than 10 different players getting a carry and over a dozen getting a reception. Georgia pass catchers Jeremy Bell, Talyn Taylor and Kaiden Prothro all hauled in receiving touchdowns.

Georgia's defense forced stop after stop. The Bulldogs barely allowed Tennessee State to gain first downs. Tennessee State had a negative rushing total until garbage time. Georgia showcased its depth on both defense and offense.

Tennessee State had just 109 total yards of offense and allowed Georgia to get 660 total yards. Next up, Georgia hosts the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Week 2 on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 12:45 p.m. ET.
