The 2026 college football season enters Week 2. ESPN's College Football Power Index was updated after Week 1.
No. 18 Tennessee (1-0) won its season opener, 56-9, over Furman (1-1) at Neyland Stadium. The Vols will travel to Georgia Tech (0-1) in Week 2 (7 p.m. EDT, ESPN).
Following Week 1, Tennessee is down two spots to No. 18 overall in ESPN's FPI rankings. The Vols are projected to finish their regular season with a 7.1-4.9 record after a 7.3-4.7 preseason record projection.
Tennessee also has a 79.7% chance to win at least six games, 2% chance to win the SEC, 17.7% chance to make the College Football Playoff and a 0.7% chance to win a national title after Week 1.
Tennessee has the eighth-hardest strength of schedule and the seventh-hardest remaining strength of schedule. The Vols are ranked No. 59 nationally for game control and No. 67 for strength of record. Strength of record rankings reflect a chance that an average top 25 team would have a team's record or better, given the schedule.
