Texas-Ohio State 'College GameDay' picks: Who picks who to win SEC-Big Ten clash

Texas football has come up short against Ohio State in each of the past two seasons, including a loss that helped propel the Buckeyes to the national championship game.

So, is third time the charm for the third-ranked Longhorns to break through?

It's something Arch Manning, Cam Coleman, Steve Sarkisian and Co. will look to do at 7:30 p.m. ET when they kick off against the Buckeyes at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Buckeyes, once again the top-ranked team in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, feature a pair of Heisman Trophy candidates in Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith, who individually went off in Week 1 against Ball State. One thing to watch for in Saturday's top-five matchup will be how Texas contains Smith and how Ohio State adjusts to get Smith involved in the offense. Smith has just seven receptions for 46 yards in two career games against the Longhorns.

Texas also opened the season with a convincing win over Texas State, as Arch Manning helped lead an offense that piled up 59 points and 516 total yards. The Longhorns, the preseason SEC favorites, reloaded an already explosive offense by adding Cam Coleman and Hollywood Smothers through the transfer portal. The talent extends to the other side of the ball as well. Texas returns some of the nation's top defensive playmakers, including preseason All-SEC First Team selections defensive lineman Colin Simmons and linebacker Rasheem Biles, making the Longhorns' roster one of the top rosters in college football.
