The Michigan football team got a huge win on Saturday over Oklahoma. It was much needed for the Wolverines, who had to listen all week about how bad they were after escaping Western Michigan. Michigan moved up in the College Football Associated Press Top 25 poll to no. 19 in the country, per On3.
“Michigan is back in the AP Poll with a 17-10 upset over Oklahoma at home. Bryce Underwood wasn’t perfect but he was efficient and Kyle Whittingham gets his first signature win as Wolverines’ head coach, improving to 2-0,” the outlet wrote.
Michigan won the game, 17-10. The Wolverines have looked very sharp on defense through two games. The offense however is a work in progress.

“The defense is holding down the fort while that maturation process [on offense] takes place,” Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham said, per ESPN. “The defense is keeping us in games, but the offense was markedly better, even if the numbers weren’t markedly better.”

Whittingham, who is in his first season in Ann Arbor, is pleased overall with his team’s progress.
“It was going to be heavier run than it was pass, and I think it played out exactly that way,” Whittingham said. “We won the time of possession by you know six or seven minutes, whereas last week, we got crushed in that in that statistic. But that’s the plan going in. Now we understand. We know there’s going to be weeks where we got to be able to throw the ball a lot better than we’re throwing it right now.”
Bryce Underwood is Michigan’s quarterback. While he hasn’t lit the world on fire this season, the quarterback still has the trust of his head coach.
“Much better, and he’s got even more,” Whittingham said of Underwood. “If we can see an upward trajectory with him throughout the year, we’re going to be real tough to beat.”
Michigan will look to go 3-0 on the season when they next play UTEP. That game is scheduled for Saturday.
