As expected, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns are a massive favorite heading into the Week 3 matchup against the UTSA Roadrunners in Austin.
The Longhorns survived the Buckeyes last week, 24-23, and moved into the top spot nationally. Texas now returns home on Saturday to face UTSA. FanDuel currently has Texas favored by 30.5 points, with the over/under set at 58.5 points. FanDuel’s latest matchup information also lists an 88.4-percent projected win probability for Texas, according to numberFire.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Texas enters 2-0 after beating Texas State 59-7 and and rallying against Ohio State. The Roadrunners are also 2-0, and UTSA has already faced a reasonably competitive Texas-based opponent this season after defeating Texas State 31-26 last weekend after entering that game as a 2.5-point underdog.
UTSA quarterback Owen McCown completed 28-of-42 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown against Texas State, while running back Will Henderson III added 80 rushing yards on 14 carries. Wide receiver Mekhi Anderson caught five passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Even so, Texas is coming off the kind of win that changes the narrative around a program.
Arch Manning threw for 195 yards and a touchdown against the Buckeyes, while Hollywood Smothers rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
So, with good reason, we’re looking at a game with a 30.5-point spread as is.
