After opening the 2026 season with a win, the Northwestern Wildcats are back in action Saturday night against the Colorado Buffaloes.

Northwestern enters the matchup 1-0 after defeating South Dakota State 34-18 in its season opener. The Wildcats had a bye in Week 2, giving the team two weeks to prepare for Colorado and its first Big Ten matchup of the season.

The Wildcats will also look to continue building chemistry in new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's system. Griffin Wilde led Northwestern with 104 receiving yards in the opener, while Joseph Himon II added 87 rushing yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run.

Colorado enters the matchup 2-0 after opening the season with a 14-13 road win over Georgia Tech before defeating Weber State 52-21 in Week 2. Freshman quarterback Julian Lewis has thrown for 490 yards and five touchdowns without an interception through the Buffaloes' first two games.

Saturday's matchup will also mark the final game at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium before Northwestern transitions to its new Ryan Field. The Wildcats will look to close out their time at the lakefront with another home victory.
