USC’s offense has been on fire to begin the season, but the big question coming into this game is if the Trojans will be able to continue that success in their first Big Ten matchup of the college football season. They may have a good chance against a 0-2 Rutgers team.
The Scarlet Knights have had a disappointing season so far. They lost to UMass in the opener, before losing, 28-21, to Boston College. Star wide receiver KJ Duff had 137 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, but quarterback AJ Surace finished with four interceptions, which the team couldn’t overcome.
USC began the season with a 42-26 win against San Jose State and then an even more impressive 39-0 win over Fresno State. In its last game, the Trojans got a 49-30 win at home over Louisiana. The team was led by quarterback Jayden Maiava, who went 19-for-29 with 261 yards and five touchdowns.
This is one of the most unique Big Ten matchups of the season. The only matchup between these teams came in 2024, when USC crushed Rutgers 42-20 thanks to three touchdowns from running back Woody Marks.
