The college football world was tuned in to see what was happening at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium as Lane Kiffin made his highly anticipated return to Oxford on Saturday night.
The No. 7 LSU Tigers and No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels battled for all sixty minutes. And it didn’t disappoint.
Ole Miss spoiled Kiffin’s return to his old stomping grounds as Pete Golding's Rebels sent the Tigers back to Baton Rouge with a 32-24 loss in front of a sold-out crowd.
What started out as a 24-7 halftime lead for Ole Miss became a tie ballgame midway through the fourth quarter. The Tigers clawed back in the game with the score knotted at 24-24. That was before Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss delivered a near knockout blow. The Rebels' leaders outran the Tigers' defense with a 14-yard quarterback keeper for a go-ahead touchdown.
Ole Miss capitalized on two LSU false start penalties. They eventually converted on a two-point conversion to take an eight-point lead with 6:14 left.

LSU had a chance to tie the game at the end, but the final drive was stopped on a fourth-and-goal deflection that became intercepted in the end zone by Jaylon Braxton. Ole Miss got the stop to seal the game and a hard-fought victory over Kiffin's Tigers.
With the game on the line, Ole Miss' defense came up with the stop as Sam Leavitt's start at LSU continues to be rocky. Chambliss got the better of Leavitt in the QB battle. The Rebels signal-caller went 33-of-48 for 363 yards and two touchdowns. His only interception came in the second half on a bad throw. Leavitt was 16-of-27 for 158 yards with two total touchdowns and an interception as well.
