College Football Picks, Predictions: Expert Week 4 Early Bet for Troy vs Utah State

Week 4 of the college football season has arrived.

After two straight early bet wins in Week 2 (FIU -9.5) and Week 3 (Virginia Tech -3), Action Network senior writer Collin Wilson returns with a Group of 6 wager in Week 4.

Let’s dive into Wilson’s college football picks and NCAAF predictions for Troy vs. Utah State in Week 4 below.

There may not be two teams that want to advance to Week 5 more than Troy and Utah State.

The Trojans come off road travel to Missouri and led the Tigers, 10-0, after the first quarter. Missouri roared back with a 24-point second quarter and ended with a 27-17 victory.

Troy will now have back-to-back travel to Logan, Utah, with an elevation that exceeds 4,500 feet.

The Trojans will be looking forward to the end of this game, as head coach Gerad Parker receives a 10-day bye week to prepare for his team’s Sun Belt opener against Southern Miss.

On the other side, Utah State returns home after back-to-back travel against Washington and Utah. The Aggies failed to score against the Utes in Week 3 and managed just 14 points in Seattle against the Huskies.

Head coach Bronco Mendenhall has also gone without a victory this season after losing to FCS Idaho State in Week 1.

With a three-game sample size, there’s no doubt the biggest issue for both teams comes on the offensive side of the football.

Troy ranks 119th in both Rushing Success Rate and Passing Success Rate while also falling out of the top 100 in Quality Drives. The Trojans have failed to stay on schedule to move the chains.

Utah State has been equally underwhelming, coming in near dead last in Success Rate and Havoc allowed. The Aggies are dead last in scrimmage plays that have gone for at least 20 yards.
