Texas A&M freshman RB expected to return vs. LSU on Saturday

Texas A&M's offense must respond in a big way after last Saturday's 31-21 home loss to Kentucky, especially starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who threw two interceptions in the loss and missed too many "easy throws" that would have kept several drives alive and at least resulted in a field goal attempt.

However, after several days of reflection, the Aggies deserve some grace for playing one bad half of football that resulted in one of the worst losses under coach Mike Elko, and during Wednesday's Aggie Football Hour, Elko said that his team is coming off a solid week of practices, while further defending Marcel Reed's bad performance, which was expected.

However, the biggest news to come out this week pertained to the latest SEC availability report, showing wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman and running back Jamarion Morrow listed as "questionable" with a 50% chance to play, while freshman running back KJ Edwards, who left Saturday's game due to an undisclosed injury, was not listed on the report.

KJ Edwards, a former five-star prospect, gave the Aggies an explosive option in zone blocking during the first several drives of Saturday's game, but after Kentucky's second-half run, first-year OC Holmon Wiggins moved away from the run game, as expected after the Wildcats built a 28-7 lead.

If Jamarion Morrow can't go for a second straight week, KJ Edwards should get most of the snaps behind Rueben Owens; even if Morrow plays, Edwards deserves more carries and responsibility after his impressive performance before leaving the game. To keep LSU's No. 1-ranked rushing defense honest, mixing things up in the backfield is the only option.

LSU will be without star tight end Trey'Dez Green, cornerback Dashawn Spears (out for the year), wide receiver Philip Wright III, and possibly cornerback Ja'Keem Jackson.
