LSU is 'very confident' Lane Kiffin will take job, Bruce Feldman says

The wait is finally over, college football fans. Lane Kiffin is expected to announce a decision regarding his coaching future today, with Ole Miss and LSU the front runners while the Florida buzz has reportedly fizzled out.

Recent reporting suggests LSU may have the edge. Fox’s Bruce Feldman revealed Saturday morning on Big Noon Kickoff that LSU is “very confident” Kiffin will take the job in Baton Rouge. This comes hours after Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that Kiffin is already assembling a coaching staff at LSU.

LSU is reportedly prepared to make Kiffin the nation’s highest-paid coach, plus they’ve committed to $25 million in roster investments, according to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.

With rumors swirling about his future, Kiffin has had a wild weekend. He called out Mississippi State fans for allegedly breaking into the Ole Miss locker room and stealing Trinidad Chambliss’ jersey and also chided a reporter for using a Project Pat line he found to be disrespectful.

We’ll find out soon enough if that’s the lasting impression Kiffin will give the Ole Miss faithful.
