ESPN’s College GameDay is set to be in Tuscaloosa, AL, for this week’s SEC showdown between the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide. However, a potential brewing hurricane is threatening the status of the game and has even forced ESPN’s flagship college show to change its location on campus for Saturday’s show.
The program’s official X account shared the news on Thursday, via a clip from The Pat McAfee Show in which McAfee announces the news while speaking with Saturday’s celebrity guest picker, former Crimson Tide quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young.
“Hey, Bryce, quick though. Can you tell the Alabama students and the Alabama people that were potentially thinking about coming to game day on Saturday that we’re going to be inside the Coleman Coliseum?” McAfee asked Young.
Due to expected inclement weather, College GameDay will originate from inside the Coleman Coliseum on Alabama’s campus on Saturday morning.
The doors will open at 5:30 AM CT and the show will begin at 8 AM CT. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you indoors!

“The basketball arena is where the show will be because of the massive storm that’ll be coming through Tuscaloosa; I think it’s going to hit in the morning. So instead of moving people from outside to inside, we’re going to be live from the basketball arena.
“Bryce, if you could tell everybody we’re going to be in there so we don’t have an empty arena on Saturday morning.”
“For sure. Everyone call me,” Young responded. :”Y’all be there.”
With the show being moved indoors, it’ll be a dry homecoming for former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban, who serves as an analyst alongside McAfee on College GameDay.
Ironically, Saban said on last week’s show that he feels Georgia is the most complete team in the sport.
“I think Georgia is the most complete team that I’ve seen this entire season,” Saban said on Saturday. “Gunner Stockton’s playing very well. They can run the football. They’ve got a stable of running backs. They make you defend the perimeter with all those screens and advantage throws. They can throw the ball down the field, so they make a lot of explosive plays. And they have one of the best defenses in the country. … They’re doing a lot of things you have to do to win.
“Kirby told me at the beginning of the season, this is the first time in the last few years he’s had enough depth on the team to practice the way he wants to practice. And I see that physical element of the way Georgia loves to play showing up in the way they’re playing this year so far.”
For his part, Smart jokingly dismissed his old mentor’s words.
“It’s a setup,” he told ESPN’s Kevin Negandhi. “He knows who we play. He knows he said it a couple weeks out before we go to play Alabama.
“That’s easy to say up there on that stage. It’s hard to earn that kind of accolade as a coach because we’re not what he says right now. That is his version of ‘rat poison.’ That’s fine. I get it.”
Weather permitting, Georgia and Alabama are slated to clash on Saturday night on ABC from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
