The Eagles are sitting at a frustrating 2-2 and the outlook for the rest of the season is murky at best and catastrophic at worst. Perfect time then to start looking ahead to the 2027 NFL Draft! This class has some exciting and promising players on both sides of the ball. Who knows where the Eagles will be picking come spring, but here are some prospects I am keeping an eye on this weekend.
Jadan Baugh, Running Back, Florida v. South Carolina (12:45 PM ET on SECN)
Jadan Baugh has emerged this year as one of the best running backs in college football. In Florida’s four wins this season, Baugh has rushed for over 130 yards in each game and scored 11 touchdowns in that span. Last week, Baugh was stymied by Missouri while the Gators dropped their first game of the season. This week, the powerful runner will look to bounce back against South Carolina.
Colin Simmons, Edge Defender, Texas v. Oklahoma (3:30 PM ET on ABC)
Colin Simmons has been a hellacious pass rusher this season. In Texas’ big win over Tennessee, he was credited for 5.5 sacks (!!!) and he was in the quarterback’s face on every play. Next up, he has another SEC showdown with Oklahoma. Simmons can’t get much higher on many NFL draft boards, but he is damn well going to try.
Sahir West, Edge Defender, UCLA v. Oregon (3:30 PM ET on CBS)
Here is a name for you to know. After a seven sack season at JMU last year, Sahir West followed Bob Chesney out to Los Angeles where he is now a key part of an undefeated Bruins defense that is allowing less than 19 points per game. Sahir West is a versatile defensive lineman who can play edge or inside. Oregon’s offense will challenge UCLA in the run and passing game, meaning West will need to bring it on every down, wherever he lines up.
KJ Bolden, Safety, Georgia v. Alabama (7:30 PM ET on ABC)
Another year, another Georgia defender near the top of everyone’s draft wishlists. KJ Bolden is a reliable, versatile defensive back who lines up all over the Bulldog defense. After a five game stretch where Georgia is allowing less than 14 points a game, they will take on a high powered Alabama offense with an explosive passing and running game. The Bulldogs will need a great game out of Bolden to contain Keelon Russell.
Elijah Paige, Offensive Tackle, USC v. Penn State (7:30 PM ET on NBC)
Elijah Paige has played like the best tackle in the country this year, so far. He has great size at 6’7” and 315 pounds, but also moves so smoothly as a pass protector and downhill. USC will be facing a feisty Penn State team trying to get back in the win column, so this will be a big test for Paige.
