The Seminoles have officially signed the bell cow of #Tribe26.
Chauncey “Chuck” Kennon is a 6’1”, 175-pound defensive back who plays for Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida. The most talented player in FSU’s class, he is an outstanding prospect who racked up nearly 40 offers from a who’s-who of power programs. FSU beat out fellow finalists the Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Florida Gators for Kennon’s pledge back on July 6, and Kennon hasn’t wavered one bit since then. He even went the Derwin James route and got an FSU tattoo on his arm.
247Sports Composite has Kennon as the 41st best player in the nation (3rd best cornerback, 2nd best player in Florida). I was happy to see him rise in the rankings from the lower 60’s earlier this year- when I see his film, I see a borderline five-star talent, easy top 50 prospect, and future NFL player.
Kennon is a special athlete with an ideal frame who plays wide receiver and defensive back for Booker. His best trait, in my opinion, is ball skills, showing an elite ability to read quarterbacks, track passes in the air, and adjust to make plays. He shows plenty of fluidity in his movements and has the versatility to thrive and adapt within different schemes. He also hit district qualifying marks in track and field.
Kennon is exactly the kind of prep recruitment that FSU thrived on winning during the heights of the program. He will likely crack the rotation during his freshman season.
