Another Auburn player with high potential is set to enter the transfer portal two days before the next window opens.
Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals reports that true freshman Deuce Knight plans to enter the transfer portal this week after spending one season on the Plains. Knight signed with Auburn as a four-star quarterback from the 2025 recruiting cycle, ranking No. 6 among quarterbacks and No. 2 among players from Mississippi.
Knight appeared in two games during the 2025 season, where he passed for 259 yards and two scores. He added 178 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. His most notable game was Auburn's 62-17 win over Mercer on Nov. 22, when he passed for 239 yards and two scores while adding 162 yards on the ground with four more scores. Three of his touchdown runs were over 20 yards, with his highlight run being a 75-yard score on the first play of the game.
Knight's planned departure means that Auburn will aim to replace its entire quarterback room for the second consecutive season. It was previously announced that Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels plan to look for new homes after playing for the Tigers in 2025. Auburn lost Hank Brown and Walker White to the transfer portal after the 2024 season, with Payton Thorne departing the program due to exhausted eligibility.
The transfer portal is set to open on Friday, Jan. 2. It will be interesting to see how many quarterbacks Auburn targets during the two-week window, and who will emerge as the starter for Auburn's 2026 opener.
