A match-clinching goal, and a 5-TD passing game highlight Nov. 3-7 Athlete of the Week

Week 1 of the NCHSAA high school football and soccer playoffs have concluded, and it's time to highlight the best performances.
As the second week of the boys soccer postseason arrives, Gray's Creek stands alone on the pitch out of the six Fayetteville-area teams that made the playoff field. On Friday night, Terry Sanford football eliminated E.E. Smith while Westover, South View and Gray's Creek saw their seasons come to an end as well.
Highlighted by a five-touchdown passing performance and a match-winning goal in double-OT, here are five 910Preps Athlete of the Week nominees on this week's ballot.

Here are your Athlete of the Week nominees for the week of Nov. 3-7
Dontario Austin, Trinity Christian football — Austin, the senior do-all athlete of the Crusaders, had an all-around game in their Round 1 rout over SouthLake. On defense, he had 11 tackles, a pick-6, and a TD reception on offense.
Isaac Dawson, Gray's Creek soccer — Dawson, the Bears' goals leader, sealed the deal for the No. 4 seed over Terry Sanford with a match-winning goal in double-overtime for his 29th on the season.
Braylnn Howard, Trinity Christian football — Howard is a freshman quarterback who has managed the Crusaders well in their 8-2 season, and has finally had his breakout performance. In their NCISAA playoffs Round 1 win, he completed 14 of his 19 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns.
Nick Smith, E.E. Smith football — Smith had a standout performance despite the loss to Terry Sanford in the first round. The sophomore QB rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
Isaiah Washington, Terry Sanford football — Washington helped bring in the win on Friday night for the Bulldogs. The senior running back rushed for 157 yards, and scored a touchdown in Round 1 against E.E. Smith.
Voting will conclude on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.
