An action-packed start to the college football season will conclude in Tallahassee on Labor Day with an ACC-on-ACC matchup.
No. 20 SMU travels to Florida State on Monday, Sept. 7 to close out the Week 1 schedule of the season in a matchup equally important for both teams, with the winner picking up an early-season conference win for the standings.

The Mustangs and Seminoles are set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
Florida State already has a game under its belt entering the 2026 season, defeating New Mexico State 34-17 in its Week 0 opener in Tallahassee. Auburn transfer Ashton Daniels completed 17-of-27 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown in his Seminoles debut, adding a 4-yard rushing score in the second quarter, as well.
Meanwhile, Monday's kickoff is the season opener for Rhett Lashlee's SMU squad, which was picked to finish second in the ACC preseason poll behind Miami. The Mustangs return veteran quarterback Kevin Jennings under center, with the 6-foot quarterback coming off a career-best season where he threw for nearly 3,700 yards and 26 touchdowns.
