Auburn football is set to enter into a groundbreaking NIL deal this summer ahead of its season-opener against the Baylor Bears.

The Tigers will face Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 4, in Atlanta as part of the Aflac Kickoff Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and will receive a hefty NIL payout by participating in the game. According to CBS Sports, Auburn is expected to receive $6 million in NIL funds to be shared among 24 players in exchange for marketing commitments and promotional appearances leading up to the game.

According to Brandon Marcello of CBS Sports, the marketing commitments and promotional appearances include social media posts, advertisements, public appearances, media interviews, and branding opportunities from July until kickoff in early September as part of a partnership between the Peach Bowl and third-party entities.

The game between Auburn and Baylor is the second game of an originally scheduled home-and-home deal. After Auburn opened the series in Waco last season, this season's game was moved from Auburn to Atlanta last October in the name of NIL opportunities. Because the game was moved from Auburn to Atlanta, Auburn has been allotted 20,645 tickets, while Baylor has received 3,000 allotted tickets.

The Tigers and Bears will open the season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. CT, with ABC airing the game live. Auburn will look to complete the sweep of Baylor in the series after beating Baylor in Waco last season, 38-24.
