The Boston College football schedule has been set for months now. Right away, it was clear that the Eagles will be challenged each week.
Boston College is coming off a 2-10 campaign in 2025. The team is looking to improve and to do so, it will have to pick up some hard-fought victories.
Last week, ESPN shared its latest Football Power Index, including strength of schedule of all teams around the nation. In this list, Boston College currently has the 24th hardest schedule in the country this fall.

The Good
There is a chance that Boston College reaches its win total from last season in Week 3, or maybe even Week 2 if all goes right. For the ultimate optimist out there, is it possible the Eagles double their win total from 2025 by Week 4?
Obviously, no games outside of Maine can be penciled in as a victory. The season opens against Cincinnati before the home opener against Rutgers and a date with Virginia Tech in Week 4. These are three winnable games for the Eagles. In total, Boston College will play five teams that did not play in bowl season last year.
That is the absolute best-case scenario. In reality, Boston College will be a touchdown underdog at least against Cincinnati. The Rutgers game is a massive swing on the schedule before Maine. The minimum goal for the Eagles in the first four should be a split.
The Bad
After those first four games of the season, it does not get easier as Boston College hits the road for three out of four.
A trip to SMU begins October before back-to-back against Georgia Tech and Duke on the road. A home game with Pitt is mixed in. This game is coming off a bye week. The Eagles will have two weeks to prepare for a home game against the Panthers. This is another swing game on the schedule.
Boston College will not play Cal, Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest this year. The Eagles avoid trips out West but Cal and Stanford would have been welcomed. This means the ugly is coming in the ACC.
The Ugly
The final four games of the season will be a gauntlet for the Eagles.
Florida State begins the final third of the year. The Seminoles will come North to play this game but it will be a difficult one for the Eagles. The Eagles will also have a trip to Notre Dame scheduled. The Irish are one of the favorites to win the National Championship this season. Playing this game on the road makes for a massive spread.
Boston College ends the season with a road game against Miami, who finished as the national runner-up last season.
