Betting odds released for Michigan Football at Northwestern

The Michigan Wolverines are coming off a bye and will be taking a short road trip to Chicago to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan is currently a 9.5-point favorite over Northwestern, with the over/under set at 40.5 points. The matchup will be played at Wrigley Field in Chicago, home of the Chicago Cubs.

Northwestern, 5-4, has lost two games in a row, most recently a 38-17 loss to USC on Friday night. Michigan (7-2) has a three-game winning streak, with the most recent being a 21-16 win over Purdue last weekend.

Michigan is 56-13-2 all-time against Northwestern and has won eight in a row over the Wildcats. These squads squared off last season at Michigan Stadium, which was a 50-6 Michigan win in November. However, the last time the Wolverines played at Northwestern, it was a nail-biter. Michigan was down 17-0 in 2018 and came back to win, 20-17.

This is Northwestern head coach David Braun’s third season on the job and is nearing bowl eligibility for the second time. Braun was 8-5 in his first season, including a Las Vegas Bowl win over Utah, but finished 4-8 in 2024.

Northwestern needs to win to gain bowl eligibility, and Michigan needs to win against the Wildcats and its other two remaining opponents (Maryland, Ohio State) to have a shot at the College Football Playoff.

Will Michigan cover the spread against Northwestern? Will the game finish with over 40.5 points scored? Let us know in the comments.
