Big 12 football power rankings after Week 5: A new last place team

The Big 12 slate was relatively small in Week 5 as conference play is nearly in full swing with just one non-Big 12 matchup on the docket. Six conference games were decided, and one Big 12 program played its final nonconference contest.
Several contests were tight, notably BYU's low-scoring affair against TCU, where the Cougars pulled out a win despite having only 216 yards of offense. BYU and perhaps its in-state rival Utah appear to be the two teams to beat through five weeks. Texas Tech had to battle Colorado on the road before scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The highlight game of the week came from Iowa State and West Virginia, as the two teams traded blows until the Cyclones punched in the go-ahead touchdown with under two minutes to go and hung on for a 45-42 win.
Houston, Baylor and Arizona recorded blowout wins over UCF, Arizona State, and Cincinnati, respectively. In the lone nonconference matchup, Kansas beat Middle Tennessee 55-0.
With Utah, Oklahoma State and Kansas State off this week, here's an updated snapshot of how the Week 5 action affected our Big 12 rankings.
