Big 12 receiving leaders after several impressive Week 1 showings

Given that Arizona State quarterback Cutter Boley put up almost 400 passing yards, it is no surprise that two receivers for the Sun Devils had over 100 receiving yards (Reed Harris and Grayson Rigdon), who each had two touchdowns as well.

The leading receiver in the Big 12 in the first week of the season was Gavin Freeman with Baylor, who had 154 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted 12 times, twice as many as anyone else on the team. Freeman is also the player who quarterback DJ Lagway targeted on the two-point conversion to win the game against Auburn, but he was tackled a yard short.

Another player who stood out in the opening week was Amare Thomas out of Houston. Thomas was second in the Big 12 in receiving yards last season with 966 yards. His 133 receiving yards against Oregon State were the second-most receiving yards he has recorded in a game in his four-year college career.
