Big Ten play brings a weekend full of guests ready to see the Buckeyes in action

Back at home this weekend, Ohio State may be playing host to Illinois, but that’s not all. Another chance to bring in recruits for a gameday, the Buckeyes will have several big names on site Saturday and starting with some of their very own 2027 commitments.

Led by the likes of Brady Edmunds and Jimmy Kalis, the coaching staff will have help this weekend with peer recruiters and that typically tends to go well.

Starting off with the defensive back position, Ohio State will have North Carolina native, Nate Dollard here Saturday. A 6-foot, 170 pound athlete in the 2028 class, Dollard is the No. 232 player nationally and 23rd best cornerback per the 247Sports Composite.

Nearly 40 offers to his name from every major school in the country including Ohio State, Tim Walton will have plenty of time carved out for the four-star and rightfully so.

In addition to Dollard visiting, fellow class of 2028 athlete Troy Bishop will also make the trek to Columbus for this weekend’s home game against Illinois. A safety out of Southern California, the Mater Dei product is the No. 544 player nationally and 40th best at the safety spot per the 247Sports Composite grades.

Earning his Ohio State offer this past summer in June, Troy making the long way back to Ohio shows there’s certainly some mutual interest here at the very least. Double-digit offers to his name besides the Buckeyes, schools such as Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, and others show the caliber of player he is and Walton has taken more than notice here.

Two priority defensive back targets in the next cycle being on site at the same time is a recipe for success and the Buckeye coaching staff will ensure that both of them leave knowing all that they have to offer both on and off the field.

Ohio State in the mix for five-star talent

Thanks to two recent commitments in the 2027 class, Ohio State basketball recruiting is on a hot streak and this new look coaching staff is looking to keep that trend for the long haul.

Jake Diebler and crew staying in the mix for several top recruits, the Buckeyes are being looked at and with serious interest from many of the nation’s top players. Where you want to be, all that’s left is to continue adding to the current and future classes with guys that will take this program to new heights.

Looking specifically at Demarcus Henry, the five-star is keeping the Buckeyes in his sights and others too for that matter. A 6-foot-7, 190 pound small forward, Henry is the No. three player in the country and the top player at his position per the 247Sports Composite for the 2027 class.

Offers from 30 programs to his name, Demarcus has the likes of Arkansas, BYU, UCONN, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, and North Carolina catching his attention the most in addition to Ohio State.

Likely nearing a decision, what helps here is knowing the last name and the connection to Ohio State. Obviously the brother to Chris Henry Jr., his sister is a current Buckeye as well and that holds weight.

Not a done deal though, Ohio State has work to do to fend off the other top suitors, but having the family ties right on campus matters and is a card this coaching staff will continue to play until they hear his final decision.

Still looking to add to their receiver haul in the 2028 class, the Buckeyes are looking at current South Carolina commit, Joseph Gibbs. The No. 169 player nationally and 24th best receiver per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State isn’t the only program trying to make a late push.
