Big Ten Superlatives: Week 7
BLOOMINGTON, IN – OCTOBER 17: Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Nick Marsh (11) reacts after realizing he was out of bounds on his catch late in the fourth quarter during a college football game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indiana Hoosiers on October 17, 2026 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, IN. It was an extremely wild week around the nation in college football. In the Big Ten, things weren’t quite as crazy. But let’s catch up on the best (and worst) of the weekend.

Best Win of the Win: Ohio State Survives

Well, the Buckeyes both won and lost in a top-five showdown against defending conference and national champions Indiana in Bloomingon. On the one hand, Ohio State avenged last year’s Big Ten title game loss. But, the Buckeyes will be without starting quarterback Julian Sayin for some period of time after he was injured late in the game. Ohio State is off this weekend, but then will head into a stretch that sees them play at USC, home against Oregon, and at home against a ranked Northwestern team.

Worst Loss of the Week: Indiana Finally Falters

This October, an Indiana receiver couldn’t get a toe down in bounds. Nick Marsh hauled in Josh Hoover’s pass on fourth down in the closing seconds, but his foot came down out of bounds. Indiana should still find itself in position to defend its title in the playoffs and a rematch against Ohio State in Indianapolis isn’t even out of the question.

Offensive Player of the Week: Elijah Brown, Washington

Brown is playing in relief of Demond Williams, who is out with an injury. Also, Brown did throw three interceptions. But his 21 completions went for better than 300 yards and the Huskies’ offense showed some life in a much-needed victory against Purdue.

Defensive Player of the Week: Chris Bracy, Michigan

Bracy had eight tackles, a sack, and a key interception in the game on Saturday that you watched from start to finish.

Offensive Play of the Week: KJ Duff, Rutgers

Duff needed just one hand to score this touchdown in Rutgers’ win against Maryland. Duff had two scores and better than 100 yards receiving. He also could have been player of the week in this spot, but I wanted to at least mention the Washington/Purdue game.

Defensive Play of the Week: Josiah Zayas, Penn State

Looking ahead to the off-season already, I’ve thought of a post of great plays in Penn State losses. Add this one to the list, and probably near the top. It’s one of the most impressive interceptions I can ever remember a Penn State player having, but it wasn’t enough for the Lions on Saturday.

Most Big Ten Moment of the Week: Nebraska Loses to its Former Quarterback

This is sort of the 2026 college football as it is today moment. But late Saturday night, in a game that kicked at 11 p.m. for television purposes, Oregon put together a gutty, grimy, grind-it-out last minute touchdown drive to knock off Nebraska. The drive included the two-minute warning, some fourth down plays, a booth review, and it was led by Dylan Raiola. The once hyped Nebraska quarterback recruit was now playing in a reserve role for Oregon. College Football Today.

Most Big Ten West Moment of the Week: UCLA Stands Alone

The Bruins are 6-0, ranked in the nation’s top ten, and they are the only unbeaten team in the Big Ten. Once again, College Football 2026.

Most Iowa Moment of the Week: Bye Week

It is harvesting time for the corn. Iowa will be back in action next week at Minnesota in what I’m sure is some kind of trophy game. Checks notes. Yes, Floyd of Rosedale is on the line.

What We’re Looking Forward to the Most: Bye Week

Maybe work on some red zone offense.
