Florida State is one of the top schools in the recruitment of 2027 four-star defensive lineman Karlos May. He named them in his top five last month along with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, and Auburn Tigers.

He’s set to begin his official visit schedule, and FSU is first up on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 330-pounder spoke about his intentions and what he’s looking for once he arrives in Tallahassee.

“Honestly, I’m just super excited just to kind of make sure, because as I continue to narrow my choices down, I just want to make sure I’m able to get the ins and outs of the program — like get a chance to really see,” May told Matt LaSerre of Warchant. “So yeah, I know this is going to be fun, but it’s mostly about business. And I definitely pay attention to that.”

May is the No. 165 player nationally and the No. 17 defensive lineman according to Rivals’ industry rankings. They’ve also listed him as the No. 8 recruit in the state of Alabama.

As is the case with any recruit, May is very curious as to how he fits in the 3-3-5 scheme that Seminoles’ defensive coordinator Tony White runs. Of course, that will mean plenty of film study as May picks the brains of the coaching staff.

“I’m really excited to see because everyone thinks — well, everyone on the defensive staff thinks — that I can fit the program scheme and violence because of the way I play,” May said. “So I’m definitely excited to see how they’re going to break that down to me. … Because I know I can come in, if I work hard, do everything I’m supposed to do, I automatically get a chance.”

May is coming off a strong junior season at Ramsay High School. He produced 43 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and two interceptions.

The Seminoles need more firepower on the defensive line in the 2027 recruiting cycle to go along with four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro.
