Colorado‘s offensive line still has many questions to answer, but new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion doesn’t seem to be short on confidence.
Marion told The Athletic (subscription required) that the Buffs’ front compares favorably to the unit he coached at Texas, and he went even further in his description of the group’s potential. In his view, Colorado’s o-line is bigger, stronger and more physical than his previous line with the Longhorns.
“Our O-line is better than what we had at Texas, except we don’t have (No. 9 pick in the 2025 draft) Kelvin Banks,” Marion said. “Offensive line-wise, we’re better than we were at Texas. We’re bigger. We’re more physical. This will be the best offensive line that I’ve ever had.”
That is a strong statement, especially for a Colorado group still trying to settle on its five starters. The Buffs brought in a large wave of new linemen through the transfer portal and return several veterans, giving the coaching staff plenty of options but also a fair amount of uncertainty as camp approaches next month.

Colorado has a crowded battle at tackle and guard, with Bo Hughley, Taj White, Jayven Richardson, Leon Bell and Xavier Payne among the players competing up front. At guard, Jayvon McFadden, Jose Soto, Yahya Attia and Chauncey Gooden are all trying to separate themselves. At center, Demetrius Hunter and Sean Kinney are pushing for the job.
One of the biggest names to watch is Larry Johnson III. The 6-foot-7, 350-pound tackle is expected to be a major piece. If he stays healthy and plays the full season, he could help anchor a line Colorado believes has the size to hold up in Marion’s Go-Go offense.
Marion’s confidence is encouraging because the Buffs’ offense will lean heavily on that front five to protect quarterback Julian Lewis and support a faster, more up-tempo system. Marion’s comments are a strong sign that the staff sees real upside in a unit that could be one of the program’s reasons for a turnaround in 2026.
