Brian Kelly Reveals His ‘Wish’ for LSU After Being Fired

It’s been 11 days since LSU fired Brian Kelly on Oct. 26.

It came after LSU was blown out by Texas A&M, 49-25, on Oct. 25. LSU was up 18-14 at halftime before getting outscored 35-7 in the second half. It dropped LSU’s record to 5-3, prompting the decision to fire Kelly.

Kelly was the head coach for four seasons, compiling a 34-14 overall record. After being fired, he waited until Thursday to release a statement thanking LSU for everything during his tenure.

“Moving to Baton Rouge four years ago, my family and I were clear. There would be no halfway. We would be all-in for LSU and for Louisiana. This journey began with great expectations with my own vision of how to get there. Sometimes the journey does not end the way we hope. But when I think of our time together, I will remember and appreciate what we did accomplish,” part of Kelly’s statement read.

Towards the end of his statement, he wished interim head coach Frank Wilson and the players good luck for Saturday’s game against Alabama.

“As everyone heads on their way to see the Tigers play, I wish Coach Wilson, the coaches, and our players the best this weekend. I know they will do their best for themselves and for LSU. We will be watching and cheering for you,” Kelly said.

The Tigers were off last weekend, so this will be the first game in the post-Kelly era. It will take place in Tuscaloosa and get underway at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
