We’re months away from the start of the college football season, but Michigan’s Bryce Underwood has already started building his highlight reel.

Michigan football shared a highlight of Underwood at spring practice on its social media accounts that’s getting some buzz, with Underwood scrambling out of pressure before finding sophomore receiver Jaime Ffrench in the end zone … with a behind-the-back pass.

Underwood has shown flashes of the talent that made him the No. 1 overall recruit ahead of the 2025 season, but his freshman year in Ann Arbor didn’t live up to many people’s expectations. Underwood started all 13 games for the Wolverines last season, throwing for 2,428 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions while adding 392 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

The Wolverines finished 9-4 in 2025, missing out on the College Football Playoff in what ended up being coach Sherrone Moore’s final season at the helm. Michigan hired former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham to replace Moore following Moore’s firing and December arrest stemming from an alleged assault.

Underwood is seen as a key piece for the Wolverines heading into next season as Michigan looks to return to prominence in the Big Ten and on the national scene. And while behind-the-back touchdowns count for six points just like any other, that kind of skill could make Michigan fans dream of what’s possible in 2026.
