Camden Brown represents strong Cowboys tradition

Who is the most likely undrafted free agent to make this year’s Dallas Cowboys roster?
The answer is Camden Brown. It is certainly possible that another could find his way there, but right now, Brown is the leader in the clubhouse if there is one.
Given that we are talking about the Cowboys, we can almost set our watches by the fact that one UDFA will make the team. There has been at least one on the final roster for the last four years running.
Things go way beyond that, though. The Cowboys have noted in their public messaging that they have seen at least one UDFA make the initial 53-man roster in 10 of the last 11 seasons. 2021 is the only outlier.
The last five, per the team’s records:
- 2020: Terence Steele
- 2022: Markquese Bell, T.J. Bass, Juanyeh Thomas
- 2023: Hunter Luepke, Tyrus Wheat
- 2024: Brevyn Spann-Ford
- 2025: Zion Childress
When you think of the Cowboys and UDFA history your mind generally goes to the likes of Tony Romo, Miles Austin, and/or Dan Bailey. They are certainly among the more successful.
It is hardly a team tradition to carry an undrafted guy, and if there isn’t one qualified then the Cowboys shouldn’t force the issue for the sake of some sort of streak or data point; however, Camden has certainly proven he is worthy. In fact, there aren’t many fans who wouldn’t put him on their own personal 53 right now.
If he does make it though it will be the latest example of the legacy that the Cowboys are building through this particular method of roster management.
