On my daily surf of college football sites, two I look at often: and The Athletic. They both do a great job covering the game and offering perspectives that might not occur to most of us.

If you go both now, you will find headlines that seem to point to concerns about the the possibility of a 24-team College Football Playoff, One reads: "A 24-team College Football Playoff will will destroy the soul of college football" and the other says "Why does a 24-team CFP not work? Let us cou …"

Those two outlets might not be paying attention to the coaches, who seem to like a a 24-team just fine.

And why wouldn't they? More teams in the CFP should signal better job security for millionaire coaches. Hard to fire a guy who just led his team to multiple playoff wins. Or even made the cut.

If Bret Bielema leads Illinois to the CFP, no matter how many teams are in the field, he will reach a new plateau for coaches in the program.

Oregon's Dan Lanning and Ohio State's Ryan Day, two of the coaches to lend their support to the 24-team model, already know what it is like to play in the postseason. They want others to experience the fun. Well that's what they will say.

But prominent SEC coaches are weighing in too. They seem to understand the 24-teamer is going to be a major get for their conference. Let's guess it will take eight wins for a Power Four school to make the cut In 2025 that would meant eight SEC qualifiers with a ninth one win short. That is one-third of the field. You are welcome.

If the folks in the SEC think about it for a second and listen to Day and Lanning, they jump on board.
