5. Oregon 5

6. Miami 7

7. Georgia 6

16. Houston 15

17. Penn State 18

18. Missouri 20

19. Texas Tech 19

20. Utah 21

21. SMU 22

22. Louisville 23

23. Iowa 24

24. Tennessee 25

25. Virginia —

— OK, Michigan, prove to us that you belong. If you beat Top 10 Oklahoma this week, you will return to my Top 25 with an apology. But I don't expect it to happen. The near-miss against classy Western Michigan was not inspiring. The offense seemed confused and the defense let the Broncos to hold the ball too long.

— Clip and save: One of the teams in my curent Top Six will win the College Football Playoff title. That is good news for the Big Ten, because three of its teams are in the mix. We will all know so much more about Ohio State after Saturday's trip to Texas.

— With Michigan a dropout, somebody had to drop in and I went with Virginia coming off its dominant ACC victory against North Carolina State. Tony Elliott got off to a rough start with the Cavaliers, but has them going in the right direction.
