Clemson’s season hasn’t gone as planned, but Dabo Swinney believes his team still has plenty left to fight for. Sitting at 4-5 with three games remaining, the Tigers are chasing a goal that’s been a constant in the program for decades — earning a postseason berth.

Swinney said the players are eager to keep playing because of the bond they’ve built. He described a group that genuinely enjoys being together and doesn’t want the season to end just yet.

The program’s long streak of bowl eligibility adds even more incentive. Clemson has reached that mark every year since 1999, a stretch that ranks among the longest in college football history. The lone exception came in 2004, when both Clemson and South Carolina declined invitations following their late-season brawl.

Beyond pride, Swinney pointed to the developmental benefits of extending the season. The opportunity for additional practices, he said, would be especially valuable for the younger players gaining experience for next year.

Clemson will look to take another step toward securing a bowl appearance when it travels to face 20th-ranked Louisville on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
