Clemson lands four-star lineman, finally showing some life in recruiting

Matt Luke has his first offensive line commitment in Clemsonfootball’s 2027 class.

Four-star lineman Carter Jones announced Monday that he is committing to the Tigers, giving Clemson a major addition up front as the class continues to take shape. The Virginia prospect picked Clemson over Penn State, Georgia and Tennessee after one of the more closely watched recruitments on the Tigers’ board.

Jones has been a priority target for Clemson for a long time. After earning an offer from the Tigers last summer, he quickly became one of the top offensive linemen the staff focused on in the 2027 cycle. Since then, the 6-foot-6, 295-pound prospect has made several visits to campus while building a strong relationship with Luke and the rest of the coaching staff.

With Jones now committed, Clemson adds its 11th pledge in the class and another blue-chip prospect to a group that has picked up plenty of momentum in recent days. He is also the fourth player to commit to the Tigers over the last week, joining a run that has helped Clemson climb in the recruiting rankings heading into another busy stretch of official visits.

Jones is regarded as one of the top offensive line prospects in the 2027 cycle and one of the top players in Virginia. His commitment gives Clemson an important piece in the trenches and adds another highly recruited prospect to a class that continues to grow heading into the summer.
