In case you couldn't tell, Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney really likes quarterback Tait Reynolds, and he just benched Christopher Vizzina in favor of him this week.

Swinney made it clear from the moment Reynolds officially signed with Clemson that he was enamored with the Arizona product, and whenever he talks about the freshman signal-caller, he does so glowingly.

Sure, there is the usual bluntly honest Swinney verbiage, such as the 56-year-old saying Reynolds made some "boneheaded plays" against Georgia Southern and that he isn't a good quarterback just yet, but Swinney obviously sees potential.

So much so, as a matter of fact, that Swinney compared Reynolds to Tim Tebow.

“I hate to even say it, but I recruited Tebow – so physically, he’s just gifted like that,” Swinney said. “And Tebow was a multi-sport star, and Tim was a very, very tough, gritty competitor.”

Swinney made sure to qualify his statement.

“I’m not saying he’s Tim Tebow – please don’t say that and write that. … I’m just saying he’s physically gifted like that,” Swinney said. “[Former Clemson QB] Tajh [Boyd] was physically gifted and was a good runner. Tait has the ability, as the game slows down for him, to be a runner with some swagger, as the game slows down.”

Reynolds does have a very robust build at 6-foot-2 and a rock-solid 215 pounds. There is also no question that the youngster is blessed with impressive athleticism.

Of course, Tebow is one of the greatest players in college football history, and all Reynolds really has under his belt is a 16-for-27, 178-yard performance against a Sun Belt team this past Saturday. So Reynolds has a long way to go before he can achieve any serious comparisons to even decent quarterbacks.

But it's very evident that Reynolds does have talent. In addition to his athleticism, Reynolds also has a big arm, and it's important to keep in mind that he's still just 18 years old. He is also being thrust into action immediately.

That's a lot of pressure to put on a kid, and he seems to be handling it beautifully.

We'll see how Reynolds performs against the North Carolina Tar Heels this Saturday.
