College Football Big 12 power rankings entering Week 2

Two high-profile losses do see two teams depart from the preseason top-10 after Week 1 in college football, the most of any conference this week. For Oklahoma State, there is plenty of work to do after a confounding 24-10 loss to Tulsa.
For Baylor, going for two was the exact correct decision in those circumstances, and credit to Auburn for a perfect form tackle at the goal line to deny the Bears the win. So, let’s welcome two newcomers to the list this week!

10. Colorado
Welcome to the top-10, Coach Prime! Don’t say that special teams don’t matter, as the Buffs were victorious over Georgia Tech thanks to a blocked field goal in the closing seconds. This was also after a well-orchestrated two-minute drill from Julian Lewis. This team can get to bowl eligibility.
9. Cincinnati
Always bet on teams with good offensive lines. And the Bearcats have a great unit — one of the best in the conference. JC French was solid, and Notre Dame transfer Gi’Bran Payne topped 100 yards in his Bearcats debut.
8. TCU
We finally had a week at TCU without any drama. Maybe they can finally get back to football — and get that offense together! Jaden Craig does have the physical tools to get the job done. Getting Jordan Dwyer back from injury — and an upcoming two games against Grambling and Arkansas State — should get the O back on track.
7. Arizona
The Wildcats have a proud history at the wide receiver position — Dorian Singer, Jacob Cowing, and Tetairoa McMillan have all come through in the last decade. They may have their new alpha at the position, as Gio Richardson caught 8 balls for 96 yards in the opener.
6. Arizona State
It’s hard to imagine a better Sun Devil debut for Cutter Boley, who threw 6 TD passes in a 70-7 victory over Morgan State. The game was so lopsided (and I can assume the weather was quite hot) that the game was shortened in the second half.
5. Utah
No Kyle Whittingham, no problem for Utah in Week 1, who trounced Idaho 66-14. Devon Dampier picked up right where he left off last year with 3 TD passes, and highly-touted backup Byrd Ficklin even came in and accounted for two more TDs.
4. Houston
The Cougars weren’t exactly impressive in Week 1, beating Oregon State 33-20. Maybe Oregon State is better than we thought? Regardless, Amare Thomas and Conner Weigman picked up right where they left off with their connection – Thomas caught 40% of Weigman’s completions that went for 133 of his 305 yards.
3. Kansas State
Is the Avery Johnson breakout season happening? He started off by accounting for 4 TDs in a 71-3 clobbering of Nicholls. We need to see it against FBS competition, but I am choosing to believe that Collin Klein is going to make it happen.
2. BYU
Bear Bachmeier only needed to play a half in BYU’s 63-7 win over Utah Tech. Not a whole lot to be learned here, but no signs of concern either.
1. Texas Tech
It was a little bit of a sluggish start to the season for Will Hammond and the Red Raiders, who *only* beat Abilene Christian 33-10. This low margin of victory is not what we’re accustomed to in the Cody Campbell era of Red Raider football. It was a bit of a breakout spot for J’Koby Williams, who led the team with 71 rushing yards and also led the team with 8 catches. Offensive weapon.
