Do college football fans like Pat McAfee?

The TV ratings for ESPN’s “College GameDay” would certainly suggest that they do. TV ratings for the college football pregame show are up big since McAfee arrived. Clearly, ESPN’s executives knew what they were doing when they put him on the air a few years ago.

However, while McAfee has been a ratings boost for ESPN, some college football fans are getting more and more annoyed by his on-air behavior than ever. McAfee was on site in Iowa City, Iowa on Saturday. He taunted Iowa fans with an O-H-I-O chant and took his shirt off while picking the Buckeyes.

McAfee knows how to grab attention, but clearly, many fans are growing more and more frustrated by it.

ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ show faces criticism

Fans are accusing McAfee of annoying and childish behavior.

“If you’re older than college age and you find this entertaining – I think so little of you,” one fan wrote.

“NO WAY Pat McAfee took his shirt off on LIVE TV and then picked Ohio State over Iowa in front of Hawkeye fans!? So epic bro!!! 😭😂😭 … It’s so cringey man, I’m tired of his dumb shtick. These kinds of personalities are ruining sports journalism and sports broadcasting as we once knew it,” one fan added.

“Their social media team has to be playing into this bit man,” one fan added.

“Yeah because anyone with a modicum of football knowledge knew OSU was going to roll today. You don’t need this shirtless clown to reaffirm that,” one fan added.

“College GameDay has become a childish embarrassment because of this idiot,” one fan added.

But while many fans seem to be growing more and more tired of McAfee, it’s clear that ESPN isn’t going to part ways with him anytime soon.
